Plants vs Zombies, you defend yourself from hordes of zombie around your house.  You may ask how this is different from any other of the zombie games out there.  Well first of all it’s not just another FPS zombie shooting game but a strategy based tower defense game.  Second, unlike some of the other tower defense games where you build intricate path blocking and routing enemy away from you home base, in plants vs zombies you plant your plants on top of a lawn that is divided into 6 paths, and defend it from various different types of zombie.

You may think that it’s simple that you just plant your plants and let them do the work.  But as you move further into the game you begin to notice changes in the stage settings, as well as various elements that appear in the stages to enhance the game play.

You begin with one stripe of lawn grass, then after a short while it becomes 3 stripes, later the stripe increases from 3 to 5.  This means more zombies are going to show up from different lanes, and you now have multiple lanes to defend.

So after you have defended yourself from couple of front yard level, the stage changes from day time to night time.

During the day time your primary source of energy comes from the sunflower and collecting natural sun light.  In night time these 2 sources are not available for use.  This post as a challenge for players, and extend the times for early expansion of your plants.  To increase the difficulty levels some stage now has gravestones on top of the lawn, it prevent plants from being build there, and it spawns extra zombies from time to time.

After a couple more levels the stage change from the front yard to the backyard, the lanes now change from original 5 to 6.  Additionally 2 of the middle lanes are now being filled with water, plants can only be build on the water that has a lily pad on top of it.  This further increases the difficulties because it further delays your expansion, and now you have to defend yourself from enemy that comes from both the land and the water! Have fun.

Just when you think you have gotten a hang of the backyard, the night fall drops on you, and that’s not all.  In some of the levels the water will occupy all 6 rows, making it hard to plant.  Furthermore with the night time comes the fog, it covers half of the backyard, with reduced visibility to see the incoming zombie, it further challenges the player to play smart and think critically of where to place the plants.

Roof strategy

Changes in stage don’t just stops here, now there are zombies invading from the top of your house, so the stage changes once again from backyard to the roof.  The roof is angled in a slope fashion, this means most of your previous plants that shoot linear projectile now are rendered useless by the slope, and it requires new plants that launch attack in an arc to be able to reach the enemy. With the change of location to the top of the roof, you are now exposed to aerial attack from flying zombies, and making yourself more vulnerable.

 Finally with disappearing of sunlight comes the night, and around this stage you experience constant harassment from the final boss.

In plants vs zombies the combination of various plant and zombie types, mini game etc… adds variety to the game. With the addition of constant change in stages and various elements that come in the stage keeps the game fresh as well as poses substantial challenge for the players! Enjoy
